If this is your first time "Experiencing" music games, take a short look at all the different choices available to the "Music Gamer"!

    It jams because...

    ...Because of the soundtrack!
Now that I have waited for 48 hours for the answer on what is wrong, or how to fix my brand NEW Tony Hawk RIDE Skateboard...
I have been told the answer to all that is wrong. So here it is, the Troubleshooting answer you have been looking for:
Q: Why won't my skateboard turn on?
A: You must HOLD DOWN THE BUTTON FOR AT LEAST 5 SECONDS! There is not one word of this in any technical writings that come with the product.
After playing this game on the WII, it is not as fun as the first Tony Hawk game for the Playstation. But, there is a learning curve to the controller, and it is not like you can just start pushing buttons. I come from the "Real" skating, then on to "Real" surfing, so I find the game rather limiting and frustrating. I like to be able to do what comes natural, and not have to find "what works" for the controller, MY FEET ALREADY KNOW WHAT WORKS!
I have probably about 90 minutes of play time under my feet, so don't take this as the "end all" in opinions. I will keep on it, because I am certain, like Rock Band or GuitarHero, I will be playing this bad boy on something other than "casual".

    The Value of Entertainment!

I am certain that we are all looking for value on this tight gift giving season, am I right? In order to really understand what value is, lets take a look at how we measure value. How do you measure the value of entertainment? BY how funny it is, or how long it lasts, or how much enjoyment the entertainment brings? Right?

Quite a while ago, I used to subscribe to the gaming magazine, Games. Within one issue, the editors broke down the value of entertainment, and the type of entertainment. After reading the article, I had to start looking at my entertainment dollar each and every time I had any money budgeted for Entertainment simply because they made so much sense. Lets go a little further.

So, lets say that you have $40 budgeted for entertainmnet this weekend. You could spend that $40 on 4 Movie tickets and maybe a bucket of Popcorn, to see a movie that is over in less than 2 hours. You walk away with a memory of a good/bad story to discuss with some friend (if they went to see it). Fine if you have $40 to spend each and every weekend (Need another Kid? I am avaialable!) But, lets say that you would have spent that same $40 on a Karaoke game to play that night. The game doesn't charge you more for more than 4 people playing, so you are already getting a better value! The game will turn on and play regardless if the "ticket has been used". Try getting back into the movie after the ticket has been ripped! NOT! So the fact that you can play more than once, makes it a good value. What song do you want to sing? If you don't like one song, you can always change your mind and start singing another one! Man, you saw this one coming, try to get a new ticket after the movie has started. The movie people will laugh you back to your seat to watch the movie you chose! Are you seeing the BIG picture?

The real way to get the picture is when it comes to your gaming dollar, and the VALUE of that dollar! Take a deck of poker cards, and deck of old maid cards. With poker playing cards, you can play an endless list of games, even build stuff with them. The deck of old maid cards can only be used to build stuff and play old maid. Yes, you are right, you can't play old maid with poker cards, but it is only one game that you cannot play! Do you see the value of both? That is how Music Games go. The whole family can be interested in music games, and it isn't like you have to force Suzy to shoot at aliens in order to play with Johnny! Get it?

    Have fun...the louder the better!

    More Games....

    ...you asked for it!

Well, we have been getting all kinds of stuff from people saying,"there is more music games then just band games!"

We know, we know. We will take this time to let everyone know about the great Karaoke Games that are out there, and BTW, was the first Music Game my family was introduced to! We love Karaoke Game! What A great Family Night Game!

So, with all of that aside, lets look at the game play. Pick the number of players, pick you "avatar" (you know the cartoon to represnet you in th egame!), and pick your song! Start Singing!

Any one that has seen karaoke before, this is no different, it is just on your game console, that is all! Those of you that have not seen karaoke, then what you get is a screen with words scrolling along the top or bottom (depending on version), with a little arrow that "kinda" gives you an idea of the "key" you are singing in. As your voice goes up, the indicator goes up, until your voice matches the key of the song. If you can do that, then you are in the running for the next IDOL!

The first thing you need to do is get a game and a microphone! Some games come with a mic, some don't. Most games you can get as a stand alone, so if you already have a USB mic, then you are in "the biz!". If you do not have a mic, lets start there!

No that we have the hardware figured out, lets say that you wanted to get it going "right now"!! Lets take a look at some game/Mic bundles:

What if you just want to get a game? Take a look at the short list:

  • Karaoke Revolution Party (XBOX)

  • Karaoke Revolution Amercian Idol Encore (PS2-PS3)

  • There are bunch of "SingStar Games"-Take a look at this list:

  • We hope this help out those that are looking for some great games, with plenty of value!

    Hardware Helps

This posting is an ongoing post that will be appended as seen fit. This posting is for a list of hardware Helps and Fixes for any particular hardwareproblems that you may have.

Wireless Guitar not Responding-Of course, you must always ask, when was the last time it worked? If never, than make certain you have batteries in the guitar. If there are batteries in the guitar, what type of guitar is it, USB or Regular Controller Port? Is the red light flashing? Press the little button on the "Controller" end (hooked up to the console). Now turn on the Guitar. Did the light go solid? Are there more than 1 guitar hooked up? Lets say that there is more than one, unplug all hardware and plug the one that is not working in. Does it work now? Any hardware problems that we have seen ussually happens to be batteries, or "Auto-Off" of the guitar. These problems can be solved by changing the batteries, or pressing the reset button on the controller. If none of this helps, then go ahead and reboot the console. PLease rememebr, that console can get hot, so if you have been playing for a couple of hours, turn it off and get some fresh air!

Microphone Compatibility-Don't think that you can use RockBand or Karoke Revolution with ANY Singstar Games, because YOU CANNOT! Now, you can, however, use the Singstar Microphone for RockBand! But, only the Blue Mic functions, it doesn't see both! SHOOT! I Know, how cool would that be?

    "The Newest of the NEW!"

When looking for material regarding Music Games, All we have found has been alot of Google ads wrapped around a bunch of cheat codes! This is exaclty what this is not! We don't care about cheat codes, as you can't cheat music!

    "What we have here is..."

If this is the first time you have been introduced to any music games, please understand that there is more music games out there than you think! They are available for all consoles, take a look at these:

    PS2 | PS3 | XBOX | WII

We have found Guitar and Bass Games, Band Games, Singing Style Games, and of course the ever popular arcade Dance Games! Not all singing games are actual games, some can be used as regular Karaoke, words and all, right on your video game console! That is what makes this style game such a great value: When do ever get sick of singing "Buttercup""?

Some games you can find as a stand alone game, but you most likely need the additional hardware to fully enjoy the whole "music" experience! Some additioanl hardware that you may need depends on the game. Like, a dance mat for "Dance Dance Revolution", or a Guitar Controller for "Guitar Hero", even a microphone for your next Karaoke Party!

A little help in the hardware area, look for a WHOLE Band Bundle, as it contains EVERYTHING that you need to start enjoying any of the previous games (except the Dancing one, that requires a Dance mat).

Well, that is good start, keep coming back, as we are adding hints and tips all the time! Have fun! "The Louder the Better!"
